"My Heart Soars" – A Poem By Chief Dan George

A Poem By Chief Dan George – An author, poet,
and an Academy Award-nominated actor.
(July 24, 1899 – September 23, 1981)
“My Heart Soars”
The beauty of the trees,
the softness of the air,
the fragrance of the grass,
speaks to me.
The summit of the mountain,
the thunder of the sky,
the rhythm of the sea,
speaks to me.
The faintness of the stars,
the freshness of the morning,
the dewdrop of the flower,
speaks to me.
The strength of fire,
the taste of salmon
the trail of the sun,
And the life that never goes away,
they speak to me.
And my heart soars.

A local educational event for a group to come together and attend the Malibu Bluffs Native American powwow. At the powwow our group experienced native foods, engaged in children’s activities, storytelling, and took part in the Native arts & crafts. This event was also a chance for ElephantTribe.org to capture scenes for our next inspirational documentary film.
